Troubleshooting for Dilato Login issues

If you're having issues with the browser-based login flow in Dilato, follow these steps.

Dilato now uses a secure browser-based authentication flow. This means your browser must be allowed to open the Dilato desktop app after login.

How the new login flow works

  1. Open the Dilato desktop app.

  2. Click Get started ↗.
Your default web browser will open.

  3. Enter your email and password.
You can save them in your browser’s password manager for quick login.

  4. If this is your first time, your browser will ask permission to open Dilato.
    You must allow this action.

  5. After a successful login, Dilato should open automatically and you should be logged in.

  6. If Dilato does not open automatically, click “Click here to open Dilato manually” on the confirmation page.

Browser shows “Login successful” but Dilato does not open

In some cases, the browser confirms a successful login, but:

  • The Dilato app does not open automatically, and
  • Returning to the app shows you are not logged in.

This usually means the browser blocked the deep link used to reopen the Dilato app. In this case, try these steps:

  1. Update your browser
Make sure your default browser is fully up to date.

  2. Change your default browser
Some browsers handle deeplinks more reliably.

    On macOS

    • Open System Settings
    • Go to Desktop & Dock
    • Scroll to Default web browser
    • Select Safari, Chrome, or another modern browser
    • Restart Dilato and try again

    On Windows

    • Open Settings
    • Go to Apps → Default apps
    • Set Chrome, Edge, or another modern browser
    • Restart Dilato and try again
  3. Check browser settings
Browser security settings can block Dilato from reopening automatically. Try the following on Chrome (similar steps on other browsers):

    • Site settings

      • Click the lock icon (🔒) or the site information icon in the address bar on the Dilato login page
      • Set Pop-ups and redirects to Allow
      • Allow all Cookies
    • Disable extensions temporarily

      • Click the Extensions icon in the Chrome toolbar
      • Turn off ad blockers, privacy extensions, or script blockers

After making these changes, fully quit and reopen Chrome, then retry the login from the Dilato app.

  4. Turn off VPNs or proxies
VPNs may interfere with browser-based authentication and app redirects.

  5. Try a private / incognito window
If you are not already using one, try logging in using a private or incognito window.

  6. If using a private / incognito window, try normal mode
Sometimes, Incognito modes may block external application redirects by default.

  7. Clear your browser cache and site data

    Chrome

    • Open Chrome and go to Settings
    • Select Privacy and security
    • Click Site settings
    • Select View permissions and data stored across sites
    • Find Dilato and remove its data
    • Restart the browser and try again
  8. Restart your computer
This can reset stuck protocol handlers and browser state.

For IT admins

In some environments (clinics, hospitals, or corporate networks), security software, antivirus tools, or Group Policy Objects (GPOs) may block applications from opening via custom URLs.

In these cases, it may be necessary to explicitly allow the following URLs:

ALLOW dilato://*
ALLOW https://*.dilato.app
ALLOW https://dila.to

If your computer is managed by an IT department, share this list with them so they can review or adjust the security policies accordingly.
